For official CHP collision reports, see the
accident report lookup guide.
Where does the crash data come from?
CaliCrash pulls from two official sources. CCRS (California Crash Records System) — maintained by the California Highway Patrol and published on the CA Open Data portal — provides historical crash records from 2024 onward, updated daily, with location, severity, party, and injury data.
CA 511 provides live traffic incident feeds that refresh every 15 minutes, covering active accidents, closures, and hazards statewide.
What's the difference between active and resolved incidents?
Active incidents were reported within the last 24 hours and may still be affecting traffic.
Resolved incidents have been cleared from the 511 feed or are historical CCRS records representing completed crash investigations.
